(1)  PROF. B.B. SARKAR MEMORIAL RESEARCH AWARD PSI Young Scientist Research Award

The Physiological Society of India instituted a Young Scientist Award named “Prof. B.B. Sarkar Memorial Research Award”. The expenditure in connection with this Award is borne by the PSI from the interest of Fixed Deposit accrued.
The main aim of the Award is to identify and encourage a Young Scientist, within the age group of thirty (35) years (on or before 31st December of the concerned year for consideration of the award), every year who has published a research paper of high quality, in any esteemed Journal.

(3)  DR. SANJUKTA MUKHOPADHYAY MEMORIAL BEST RESEARCH PAPER AWARD

The Physiological Society of India has instituted a Young Scientist Award named “Dr. Sanjukta Mukhopadhyay Memorial Best Research Paper Award” from 2007. The said Award has been sponsored by Mr. Samar Mukherjee, father of Late Sanjukta Mukhopadhyay, an ex-Research Scholar of Endocrinology and  Reproductive Physiology Laboratory, Department of Physiology, Calcutta.
The main aim of the Award is to identify and encourage a Young Scientist, within the age group of thirty (35) years (on or before 31st December of the concerned year for consideration of the award), every year, whose research paper published in the Indian Journal of Physiology and Allied Sciences, has been selected as the best research paper among the papers published in the year preceeding to the year of the Award (i.e., for the awarded of 2010 the best research paper will be selected from the paper published in the said journal in 2009).

(4)  PROF. SACCHIDANANDA BANERJEE MEMORIAL RESEARCH PRIZE

The Physiological Society of India instituted a Young Scientist Award named “Prof. Sacchidananda Banerjee Memorial Research Award” from 2007. The said award has been sponsored by Prof. Sacchidananda Banerjee Memorial Trust Fund.
The main aim of the Award is to identify and encourage a Young Scientist, within the age group of thirty (35) years (on or before 31st December of the concerned year for consideration of the award), every year who was published a research paper of high quality, in any esteemed Journal with latest I.F. (Impact Factor) of at least 0.5.

RULES AND REGULATION

(1)  PROF. P.B. SEN MEMORIAL RESEARCH AWARD
Objective of the Award

The main aim of the Award is to identify and encourage a Young Scientist, within the age group of thirty five (35) years (on or before 31st December of the concerned year for consideration of the award), every year who has published a research paper of high quality, in any esteemed journal.

Rules and Regulations regarding eligibility Criteria and Conditions of the Award:

  1. The applicant of the Research Award should be a citizen of India and his/her conduct must be good, to be certified by the research guide or any responsible person.
  2. The applicant should be a research worker, who holds a Post-Graduate Degree in Physiology or Allied Sciences from any recognized University of India or its equivalent or autonomous college with recognized. Post Graduate Department.
  3. The applicant must be a valid number (Ordinary / Life) of the Physiological Society of India in the financial year of the preceding year and also be a member by 30th September of the year of Award on payment of arrear dues in case of ordinary member.
  4. The applicant shall be within the age group of thirty five (35) years, on or before 31st December of the concerned year for consideration of the Award.
  5. Applicant with full details as mentioned below, shall have to be submitted on or before 30th September of the year for which the Award is scheduled to be considered (i.e., 30th September of 2010 for the award of 2010).

    (a) Name of the Candidate (b) Date of Birth (c) Age on 31st December of the year of Award (d) Contact Address, E-mail, Telephone (Office and Residence) (e) Category of Membership (Ordinary / Life Member) (f) Academic Qualifications (with Degree, Year of Passing, Institution Form which passed, subject) (g) Research Organization/ Institution to which attached (h) Full details of research paper (Name of Journal where the paper has been published, with Year, Month, Volume No., Page, Author, Title) (i) A Declaration to be signed by the applicant as follows: ‘Information given above are correct and true to the best of my knowledge and belief.’

  6. A Certificate from the research guide/or a responsible person as follows: ‘Certified that the candidate is a citizen of India and bears a good conduct to best of my knowledge’ must be submitted.
  7. An age proof certificate must be submitted by the applicant along with the application.
  8. The applicant must submit two copies of published full length original research papers (Reprint or Xerox copies or Galley Proof after acceptance for publication) along with enclosure as mentioned in Clause Nos. 5, 6, 7, 9 and a Declaration as follows: ‘The paper has not been awarded anywhere previously or has not been submitted elsewhere for consideration of any Award in the same concerned year for which applied”. The research paper must be published during the period of preceding year to the month of January to September of the year of Award.
  9. In case of Joint Authorship, approval / consent from co-authors and/or the senior research guide / scientist should accompany the application.
  10. Separate set of research papers along with separate applications with enclosures must be submitted for each of the young scientist awards for research papers instituted by the Society.
  11. Recipients of any of the Young Scientists Awards for Research Papers of the Society are not entitled to apply for the same award.
  12. Applications, without full details of the candidate, enclosures and support documents will be rejected.
  13. Dully filled in application with enclosures should reach the office of PSI on or before September 30 of the year for consideration of the Award.
  14. The application will be evaluated by a panel of Referees who are Senior Scientists/ Experts/Office Bearers of PSI/Members of Editorial Board, to be nominated by the Award Committee/or Endowment Committee/or Executive Committee of PSI.
  15. Decision of the Award Committee / Endowment Committee shall be final.
  16. The Executive Committee, PSI, has the right to postpone or cancel the Award for any year due to unavoidable reasons or circumstances.
  17. All correspondences or enquiries about the Award should be addressed to the Hony. General Secretary, PSI.
  18. The Award shall be presented to Awardee at the venue of the Annual Conference of PSI (or any other special meeting).

    A Certificate and a Medal will be awarded to the Young Scientist for the best research paper.

  19. The Awardee will be invited to give deliberation on the awarded research paper at the Annual Conference Venue (or any other venue). There is no provision for TA or DA in this respect.
  20. The Executive Committee, PSI, may amend the Rules and Regulations regarding eligibility criteria and conditions of the Award as and when required
