Urgent Notice (Updated)

All the honorary life members of The Physiological Society of India who have submitted more than one Nomination paper for the forthcoming PSI Election (2024-2027) are hereby requested to withdraw their candidatures from the Post(s) where he/she is not desirous to contest.

The withdrawal request letter (hard copy) must reach to The Hony. General Secretary, The Physiological Society of India, Department of Physiology, University of Calcutta, 92, A.P.C. Road, Kolkata-700009 on or before 26th February, 2024 within 4 PM.

 

UPDATE: As the last day of withdrawal i.e., 26th Feb, 2024 is a State (WB) Govt. Holiday, 27th Feb, 2024 will be treated as the Last date of Withdrawal of Nomination.

All the valid members (with voting right) of The Physiological Society of India are hereby informed that the election of the Office Bearers and/or Members of the Executive Committee of the said Society, for the Session 2024 -2027 will be held as per Section 16 of the Constitution of the said Society.

Valid members (with voting right) are hereby requested to express their willingness in writing in Nomination Form, if they are desirous of being a candidate in the post of Office Bearer / Executive Committee members to the Office of the Society on or before 12th February, 2024 (Monday) by postal service or by hand between 1 P.M. to 4 P.M on the working days, except Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays.

Obituary: Prof. Biswanath Koley, 1930-2020....

Professor Biswanath Koley, an eminent Physiologist and legendary figure in the field of electrophysiological research in cardiovascular and respiratory system, breathed his last in the early hours of June 5th, 2020 at his residence, CA 223, Salt Lake, Kolkata: 700 064, at the age of 90 Yrs. Dr. Santanu Ghosh is no more.

The Physiological Society of India deeply mourns the sad and untimely demise of one of the Life Members Dr Santanu Ghosh. He breathed his last on 12th January 2019. Society expresses the condolence to his bereaved family.

PSI Oration & Young Scientists Awards, 2017

PSI Orations for the year 2017

The Physiological Society of India invites applications from the Life-Members of the Society for its twelve Orations for the year 2017 to be delivered by nominated distinguished Physiologists, Scientists, and Researchers of India and abroad. Most of the Orations will be delivered in Annual Conference of the Society 2017 scheduled to be held in Vallabhbhai Patel Chest Institute, Delhi during 5th-7thNovember, 2017 / a restricted number in Indian Science Congress Sessions [Medical Sciences (including Physiology) Section] 2018 scheduled to be held in Hyderabad during 3rd – 7th January, 2018 / and the remaining in the Scientific Conference of the Society during June 2018. The Life Members are requested to submit the nomination in favor of their candidate having their due written consent that they would deliver the Lecture in any of the above venues along with his/her CV.

The last date of submission of nomination is 9th October 2017 to the Hony. General Secretary of the Society.

The Annual General Meeting of The Physiological Soceity of India was held on 24th June, 2017 at Meghnad Saha Auditorium, University of Calcutta, Kolkata-700009. The was preceded by Scientific Seminar where Dr. Chitralekha Mikherjee Memorial Oration-2016 was delivered by Dr. Sreya Chattopadhyay and prize (awards) distribution to first class first in specialization in M.Sc., Physiology, University of Calcutta. Dr. Ankan Gupta of University of California, USA was invited for special seminar address. He is one of the Ex student of Physiology Department, University of Calcutta. The annual general meeting of the Physiological Society of India will be held on 24/06/2017 (Saturday) at 2.30 PM in the Meghnad Saha Auditorium, Rashbehari Siksha Prangan (Rajabazar Campus), University Colleges of Science and Technology, University of Calcutta, 92 A.P.C. Road, Kolkata : 700009. All the members of the society are requested to remain present in the meeting.

1.  To receive and adopt the Annual Report of the Physiological Society of India for the period 2016 - 2017.

2.  To receive and adopt the Audited Accounts of the Physiological Society of India for the period 2016 - 2017.

3.  To approve the Provisional budget for the ensuing year 2017 - 2018.

4.  To appoint the auditor for the ensuing year and fix the remuneration.

5.  To consider any motion brought forward by any member and for which a clear 7 day's notice has to be given by the sponsor to the Hony. General Secretary, prior to the Annual General Meeting.

Prof. BR Doddamani is no more

Prof. BR Doddamani, Department of Physiology, Kaminenii Institute of Medical Sciences, Narketpally has been passed away on 26th February, 2017 Morning. He had been suffering from prolonged illness in Gulbarga, Karnataka. He was the former Vice President and great supporter of The Physiological Society of India. We have lost a  great human being, student lover and a good Indian Physiologist. May his soul rests in peace.

Prof. Pratima Chatterjee, Vice President of the Physiological Society of India, passed away in Kolkata on 21st January 2017.In memory of the bereaved soul, a special condolence meeting will be arranged jointly by the Physiological Society of India and the Department of Physiology, University of Calcutta on 9th February 2017 at 3 pm in the Physiology Lecture Theater (Room number 101), 3rd floor of Palit Building, University College of Science and Technology, 92 APC Road, Calcutta 700009.

Prof. P Chatterjee passed away

Professor Pratima Chatterjee, the Vice President of The Physiological Society of India has expired due to sudden massive stroke on 21st January, 2017 at her resident at Salt Lake.

 

Dr. S Roy Choudhury is no more

Dr. Shyamal Roy Choudhury, the Vice President of The Physiological Society of India has started his final journey on 13th January, 2017.
